Faster Claims Settlements

What everyone always asks is: “Why does it take so long to settle a claim?” At Scott Rees we’re actively looking at ways of reducing the length of time this takes.

Here are just some of the recent developments that are having a positive impact upon the speed that it takes to resolve claims:

The AMRO scheme

We have signed up to the AMRO scheme.

AMRO (the Association of Medical Reporting Organisations) is the professional body representing medical agencies – the people who produce medical reports to support personal injury claims. It has set up an agreement with many of the leading insurance companies to speed up the appointment of a medical specialist.

In the past before we could set up an appointment for a medical report we had to provide the third party’s solicitor with a list of 3 possible medical practitioners that we might use. The third party’s solicitor then had a period of 35 days in which to reject any of the practitioners they objected to. So already over a month would be lost waiting for a response.

In addition by using AMRO we dispense with the need to obtain the client’s medical records which saves an additional 6-12 weeks.

Now providing that we are dealing with an insurance company that’s signed up to the scheme we can cut out both these lengthy delays. It’s a procedure that’s been built into our IT system so our case managers are alerted when to use it, and it’s helping to reduce the length of time that it takes to settle claims.

On-line case tracking

Clients can track the progress of their case by using our web based case tracking software. If you would like to track your case online then download, sign and return the case tracking form and we will arrange a secure login for you.

Text messaging from our system

We can now update you about progress with your claim or request that you contact us by text messaging, which is particularly useful if your job means it’s difficult to contact you during working hours.

Protocol agreements with insurers

We are working hard to put in to place agreed frameworks for dealing with straightforward claims with insurance companies. Then, providing the client is happy, we can fast track cases by having a matrix of agreed costs and compensation in place. This can save many months in resolving claims.
